I made this paper by hand, hopefully you can see it even though it is blurry. Haha, oops!
This stamp was created with an eraser. I used my classic stamp signature and even remembered to misspell the middle name I go by.
This is a drawing of Brick Burgoyne, a good friend of mine, and a friend of many.
Brick is the friendliest person I know. This is a picture of him from when he, I, and many other friends of ours, performed in the Polynesian club's dance.
I chose this photo because his smile was so bright and kind that I had to translate it to art the best I could.
Based on cave paintings like those in the Lascaux caves.
Also based on the cave paintings, but a single hand.
This was really fun to make. I started by spraying circles of increasing size to make a circle within a circle, and so on. Then, I used a card to spread the paint outwards to make a blended yet multicolored whirlpool-like thing.
I like birds.
This was practice for lines, values, and so on.
This somewhat represents the balance between life and death that keeps me going. I take medication that is known to harm the thyroid and kidneys, but without it, I will go insane and likely die by suicide either from the mania or depression of bipolar disorder.
For these art pieces, I didn't look at my paper while drawing. The goal of this exercise is to focus entirely on your subject.
For these two drawings, I first drew the character and the subject right side up. For the second drawing, I drew the character upside down while looking at the upside-down subject. The goal of this exercise is to focus on drawing specific parts of the subject. The drawings are based on the Portrait of Stravinsky by Picasso.
I used strings to make the white and blue lines. I used my fingers to make the red splotches.
The orange and red one was made by finger-painting a sponge, then pressing it to the paper. The primary-colored dots were made by painting bubble wrap with Q-tips and pressing it onto the paper.
One thing that makes me feel like I belong is creating things with those I love—whether a meal, a remodeled room, or a garden. The time spent together and the lasting result make me feel most like I belong.
